Working from her studio in Perthshire, Emily Crookshank creates drawings, etchings and ceramic sculptures shaped by the natural rhythms of Scotland. Her work is influenced by the west coast’s shifting weather, tidal changes and the quiet, persistent forms that emerge from the landscape.
Like Georgia O’Keeffe, Emily is drawn to the underlying pulse of things; the structures beneath the surface, the slow unfolding of organic life. Her practice is deeply material. Charcoal, clay and etched metal plates become ways of tracing movement, tension and stillness.
Emily graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2011 and has exhibited widely ever since. It has been a huge privilege showing her work over the last 15 years and a great pleasure to see the success she has made of her artistic career and life in Scotland. We look forward to many more years to come.
