Emily Thornton's new body of work reflects the drought Zambia is facing at the moment with critically low water levels and the harshness of climate change.

As ever, Emily draws on the landscape for her inspiration.  Lately Emily explains, ‘the dryness and mirage of heat so often found’ is reflected in her colour palette. With ‘the earth desperate for much needed rain and the effect of this on the landscape.’

With a recent shift in lifestyle, Emily now divides her time between her studio and the bush.  This has led to her spending more time by herself fully immersed in studio life, alongside new opportunities to paint in Busanga Plains in Kafue National Park.

Having always enjoyed working within the constraints and equal dimensions of the square, recently Emily has been looking at new formats, 'pushing boundaries both literally and metaphorically' through her painting.

We are delighted to present this stunning new collection of work.
